My Favourite Games
I wanted to share with you some of my favourite games, and explain what I like about them, or why they inspire my own game development.

Sonic the Hedgehog has always been one of my favourite franchises of all time. I love the high-speed platforming, and the absolute flair and style given off by the hedgehog.

I've played Fortnite from early on in Season 4, and have loved it ever since. The constant seasonal additions and rotations keep the game fresh, and the colossal history of weaponry and abilities featured in the game became one of the biggest influences for Pathmaker.

Garry's Mod is the game that inspired Pathmaker in the first place: installing parkour mods and leaping around NPC battle arenas to fight for ages put me into a comfortable flow state that I wanted to replicate in my own game.

Team Fortress 2 is one of my all-time favourite games of all times. It's an expertly-designed team shooter that allows for both co-ordinated team efforts, as well as solo runnning-and-gunning.

ULTRAKILL embodies everything I love in videogames: simplicity, movement, and super-cool weaponry! It puts me into a similar flow state to those Garry's Mod addons, so it's been a great influence on Pathmaker!

Kororinpa stands out as one of the only games that my mum likes to play, due to it's intuitive, simple motion controls. I wanted to make such a game for one of my projects, leading to a full-on fangame in Kororemix.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has always stood out to me as the pioneer and pinnacle of platform fighter design. It's what got me into fighting games, and has since been the inspiration for HERO v HERO.

Rivals of Aether is a platform fighter that's far better tailored to the way I like to play games: unfettered rushdowns. What really set it apart for me however was, of course, the Steam Workshop. Having over a thousand high-quality fighters in a single fighting game is truly something special: a game that I'm still amazed exists.

Dragon Ball FighterZ was the first traditional fighter I got into, due to it's relatively simple inputs, combo-centric gameplay, and the feeling of absolute, overwhelming power at your disposal.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe taught me the value in simplicity: Smash Bros, Fortnite and such are widely popular, but still have quite a learning curve. Mario Kart however is easily accessible: ANYONE can have a good time behind the wheel, even without learning techniques like drifting or tricking.
